Away For The Summer: Work From The Study Abroad Programs

Each Wednesday the OCHO has an information table in the Donahue and Sawyer lobby to help keep YOU connected. Get the latest updates on all the events and programs that are going on not only at Suffolk, but in Boston as well! This week, we’re putting a spin on the classic Price is Right game and giving Commuter students the chance to guess the prices of their favorite groceries. Think you can guess correctly and win some groceries? Come on down!
1:00 PM - 2:00 PM Food for Thought: The Trayvon Martin Case and Stand Your Ground
Join Jeffrey Pokorak, Vice Provost for Faculty and Curriculum and Frank Cooper, Suffolk Law Professor for a discussion about the Trayvon Martin case and the Stand Your Ground law in the state of Florida. Our guest speakers will provide an introduction to the case prior to facilitating a discussion. This event will be held in Donahue 403.

Have a hard science background? Planning to sit for the patent bar while a law student? Come meet and mingle with area firms looking to meet you. The program will consist of a panel discussion from 3:45 to 4:30pm and information tables from 4:30 to 6:00pm.  RSVP on Symplicity.

The Boston University School of Management is hosting the Idealist Grad Fair for undergrads, professionals, and anyone thinking of applying to graduate school to further their social impact career.
You'll meet representatives from 178 schools offering graduate degrees in education, international affairs, nonprofit management, public policy, public health, and social work, among many others.

Downtown Boston's Movie Palaces
a conversation with author Arthur Singer

Tickets: $10; Free with Suffolk ID or Boston Preservation Alliance Membership

Join author Art Singer as he takes us on a fascinating journey into Boston’s film and movie house past. Presented in collaboration with the Boston Preservation Alliance, “Boston’s Downtown Movie Palaces” offers a chronological history of Boston’s theaters and their evolution in the city. Through rare images and fascinating stories, Mr. Singer will discuss the historic role of the Modern Theatre and its owner Jacob Lourie, as well as the five Movie Palaces included in his book of the same name and how several Boston theaters were saved and restored. The program will be followed by an interactive audience discussion and book signing with Mr. Singer. Professor Marilyn Plotkins, Professor and Chair of Theatre Department and Artistic Director of the Modern Theatre, will join in the discussion.
