Nativity of the Theotokos
Start Date: 9/21/2014Start Time: 12:00 AM
End Date: 9/21/2014

Event Description:

Orthodox Christian holyday: This Feast Day commemorates the birthday of the Blessed Virgin Mary, known as the Theotokos (One Who Gave Birth to God). Like Roman Catholics, Orthodox Christians celebrate the Nativity of Mary on September 8, but because they keep to the ancient Julian calendar (established by Caesar in 45 BC) it falls on September 21 of the Gregorian calendar most of the world uses today (established by Pope Gregory XIII in 1582).
