8:00 AM - 8:00 PM Suffolk Service Challenge
Suffolk Service Challenge (September 16 – September 30) 

Start the year with the Suffolk Service Challenge by participating in a series of volunteer projects and other fun events. Participants will receive a t-shirt and a chance to win fabulous prizes.

To join the Suffolk Service Challenge please complete the online registration form or contact the Center for Community Engagement (CCE). After you have registered, stop by the CCE in Donahue 209 to pick up your t-shirt. 

Participants must register on SUconnect for each CCE event that they plan to attend and will receive points for each event that is attended.  The three students who have earned the highest number of points at the end of the Challenge will be eligible to win 2 tickets to a Bruins hockey game, an MBTA LinkPass or a Hubway 1-year membership.

On Thursday, October 1, there will be a luncheon from 1-2 to celebrate all that has been accomplished during the Service Challenge!                
8:45 AM - 1:45 PM St. Francis House

For 29 years, St. Francis House has helped poor and homeless men and women by providing nutritious meals, clothing, access to medical care, counseling, vocational rehabilitation, and housing. St. Francis believes that every person, with the right tools, can change their lives to be productive, healthy, and fulfilling. Volunteers will assist with food prep and food service. This opportunity is available to the first 5 participants who register through SUconnect. Participants will meet in the Donahue Lobby and travel together to the site.

 

 

9:00 AM - 7:00 PM The Adams Gallery presents V - A Graphic Design Exhibit - through October 12

The Adams Gallery presents V, an exhibit of thesis projects by Suffolk University student-artists completing a master of arts in graphic design.

The show features a variety of media within graphic design and reflects the conceptual and critical thinking skills that students developed during their master thesis work.

An opening reception will be held at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, September 19, and the exhibit runs through October 12.  

The following graphic design students from Suffolk's New England School of Art & Design are featured in the exhibit:

  • Verayouth Chotivanich
  • Tanner Huynh
  • Rajavi Shah
  • Janet Khuu

The Adams Gallery is free and open to the public from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.at the gallery, located in Sargent Hall, 120 Tremont St., Boston.

9:30 AM 80's Brunch RAMventure
9:30AM-11:30AM, FREE (cost of meal not included) - Group will meet in front of 150 Tremont Residence Hall at 9:30AM

Bring the 80's back with breakfast at a classic American diner, The Breakfast Club. From omelets to burgers, this place has it all, and you can experience the 80's fashion, music and culture we all love! Students will be responsible for their own meal, costs range from $5-$10 per person.
10:00 AM Arnold Arboretum RAMventure
10AM-2PM, FREE - Group will meet in front of 73 Tremont at 10AM

The Arnold Arboretum of Harvard University is a premier destination for deepening understanding and appreciation of plants, horticulture, and biodiversity. Established in 1872 and planned and designed in collaboration with Frederick Law Olmsted, the Arnold Arboretum is a National Historic Landmark and beloved public park in Boston’s Emerald Necklace. Free and open to the public every day of the year, the Arboretum is a safe and accessible community resource that is utilized by thousands of visitors each year. Dress casual, and be sure to bring a jacket or sweatshirt in case it gets chilly.
11:00 AM Institute of Contemporary Art RAMventure
11AM-3PM, $10 per student - Group will meet in front of 150 Tremont Residence Hall at 11AM

The Institute of Contemporary Art, located on the waterfront in Boston's Seaport district, houses on the largest collections of contemporary art in the region. Once you have explored the museum, stop for a cup of chowder at the Barking Crab, a lively outdoor seafood restaurant. Ticket price includes museum admission and chowder.
1:00 PM Shopping at Assembly Row RAMventure
1PM-9PM, FREE (cost of optional movie not included) - Group will meet in front of 73 Tremont at 1PM

Assembly Row is Boston's newest shopping, dining and entertainment destination. Score designer fashion at discount prices, taste your way through unique cuisine, and enjoy a deluxe movie experience in a fun open-air mall space. Students who wish to grab a movie at the end of the day will be responsible for their own ticket. One group will return to campus at 5PM, and second group will return at 9PM.
