Session 2: Engaging students through active learning and discussion

As TAs we will need to take the lead on teaching at least one class session, whether lecture- or discussion-based. In this workshop, we will explore how to make the most of that teaching experience. We will discuss what active learning techniques are, why they work for student learning, and how to use them in any class format. We will also identify strategies for eliciting student participation and engagement, both during lecture and in discussion.

Professor Sushil Bhatia is an Executive in Residence in the Management and Entrepreneurship Department. Bhatia is an innovator/inventor/entrepreneur holding several patents and has innovated and launched products like Glue Stic, DeCopier, convention badges, binding systems, labels, software, office, and other packaging products.
