View work from BFA and MA candidates in our Interior Architecture & Design program.
9:00 AM - 7:00 PM "The Mirror of Race: Seeing Ourselves through History"

The Adams Gallery at Suffolk University presents The Mirror of Race: Seeing Ourselves through History, a photography exhibit that challenges viewers to think about what they see when they look into this mirror onto an earlier time. Interactive elements suggest reflection about how one sees race – in oneself and in others.

The exhibit includes daguerreotypes, tintypes, ambrotypes and other forms of early photography as well as prints from tintypes made by an Air National Guardsman deployed to Afghanistan. Ed Drew’s modern-day tintypes are believed to be the first battle zone photographs using this method since the American Civil War.

The 1913 Celebration, sponsored by the Alumni Association, the Office of Diversity Services, the Office of International Student Services, and the President's Commission on Diversity Affairs is a recognition ceremony for graduating LGBTQ students, international students, students of color, and their allies.

1913 is the year Suffolk graduated its first "diverse" student. Thaddeus Alexander Kitchener, from Kingston, Jamaica is thought to be Suffolk's first Black graduate. Since that time, Suffolk has graduated many diverse students from various backgrounds, cultures, countries of origin, genders, identities and expressions and sexual orientations. Browse the collection of our university archives for this and other historic Suffolk firsts.

This event is open to Suffolk alumni, faculty, staff, and current students, graduating students and their family and friends.

The Wyndham is located near the Red Line at Charles/MGH or the Blue Line at Bowdoin. Parking is available in the Charles River Plaza garage (by Au Bon Pain, not Whole Foods parking) $5 if you enter AFTER 5pm. For more information, please contact the Office of Diversity Services at 617-573-8613 or e-mail diversity@suffolk.edu.
