View an exhibition of cutting-edge work from our graduating Fine Arts BFA candidates. 
9:00 AM - 7:00 PM "The Mirror of Race: Seeing Ourselves through History"

The Adams Gallery at Suffolk University presents The Mirror of Race: Seeing Ourselves through History, a photography exhibit that challenges viewers to think about what they see when they look into this mirror onto an earlier time. Interactive elements suggest reflection about how one sees race – in oneself and in others.

The exhibit includes daguerreotypes, tintypes, ambrotypes and other forms of early photography as well as prints from tintypes made by an Air National Guardsman deployed to Afghanistan. Ed Drew’s modern-day tintypes are believed to be the first battle zone photographs using this method since the American Civil War.

Artist Linxiang Li shows his paintings using a Chinese sensibility and techniques. Please join us at the opening reception for this exhibit entitled, Heaven the Equalizer. President McCarthy and our provosts and deans will arrive at 1:00 p.m. to welcome the artist. Light refreshments will be available.

Join the Asian American Association for their Mahjong Tournament in D403!

Mahjong is a game that originated in China and is played with a set of 144 tiles based on Chinese characters and symbols. SU's Asian American Association is inviting all Suffolk and non-Suffolk students to come learn the rules and how to play Mahjong. The tutorial will be followed by a competition in which people will have a chance to win prizes! (Scoring, minimum hands, etc. will be explained at the event!)

5:30 PM - 7:30 PM Imposing Restrictions on the Fight against Terrorism: The Example of the European Court of Human Rights

The International Law Society is pleased to announce that Daniel Rietiker, senior lawyer at the European Court of Human Rights, will be giving a speech next Tuesday, April 22, 2014. The event will be held in the First Floor Function Room at 5:30 pm. His speech is entitled “Imposing Restrictions on the Fight against Terrorism: The Example of the European Court of Human Rights.”  Mr. Rietiker will speak for about an hour and then he will be glad to field any questions that students may have. There will be food and beverages served.
