Event Description:

Trainings offered by the Office of Diversity Services focus on understanding the identities and experiences of marginalized students. We focus on students of color, the LGBTQ+ community, and the development of ally practices. These trainings are available to faculty, staff, and students and can be customized to suit the needs of a department, organization, division, or group. Each semester, our office offers several "open" trainings to the entire campus community. Please register to ensure your seat in the training.

This training is designed to inform participants about how to be an effectively disrupt and reduce prejudice and discrimination against historically marginalized communities on and off campus. Topics and activities include: review of terminology and safe space creation, social identity exploration, what it means to be an ally, how to identify oppressive behavior/discrimination, active listening, bystander intervention steps and safety.
