Event Description:

A Mandl Lecture in Literature and Culture, featuring Lloyd Schwartz. Sponsored by the Department of English. 

Lloyd Schwartz is Frederick S. Troy Professor of English and teaches in the MFA Program at UMass Boston. In addition to three books of poetry—These People, Goodnight, Gracie, and Cairo Traffic—his poems have been selected for The Pushcart Prize, Best American Poetry, and Best of the Best American Poetry. His most recent publications include the Library of America edition of Elizabeth Bishop, the centennial edition of Bishop’s Prose, and Music In—and On—the Air, a collection of his reviews for NPR’s Fresh Air. He was awarded the 1994 Pulitzer Prize for Criticism, and is now Senior Editor of Classical Music for New York Arts.
