Instructional Videos:  Extending Learning Outside the Classroom Walls (Workshop)
March 8, 2016, 1 – 2:15 PM, CTSE
Facilitators: Linda Bruenjes, Technology Innovation for Learning and Teaching, Associate Director, CTSE; and Michele Bolser, Instructional Technologist, ITS

Are you looking for a way to stimulate classroom interaction, extend learning outside of the classroom, reinforce challenging theories, or offer demonstrations of skills that can be used more than once?  These are just some of the reasons you may want to consider creating or using existing instructional videos to facilitate in-class learning activities.

In this workshop, you will develop an outline of steps needed to:

  • ? Include best practices for creating instructional videos
  • ? Consider motivational activities to encourage students to come prepared to class
  • ? Develop an assignment that prepares students for an associated student-centered learning activity

You will also get an overview of how you can use a specific instructional video tool to:

  • ? Create an instructional video
  • ? Make the video accessible to all students
  • ? Upload the video to your Blackboard course

Join Linda Bruenjes, Associate Director, CTSE, and Michelle Bolser , Instructional Technologist, ITS, to learn about the pedagogy and the technology that supports the use and production of instructional videos for the purpose of  extending student learning beyond the classroom walls.
