End Day Congress to Campus (Multi-Day Event)
The program, Congress to Campus, allows students the unique opportunity to engage directly with former Members of Congress. The bipartisan pair will interact with students, to share their real life stories from their time as Members of Congress. Come listen to their take on current hot topics in Government, learn more about careers in public service, and enjoy their personal anecdotes.

Our department is welcoming Ann Marie Buerkle (R-NY), and Sam Coppersmith (D-AZ). They will be participating in several events on campus between Tuesday, March 4th and Thursday, March 6th. 

8:30 AM - 8:30 PM First-Year Foundation Studies Exhibition - Suffolk University Gallery
View outstanding projects from students in the first-year Foundation Studies program. 
9:00 AM - 7:00 PM "The Mirror of Race: Seeing Ourselves through History"

The Adams Gallery at Suffolk University presents The Mirror of Race: Seeing Ourselves through History, a photography exhibit that challenges viewers to think about what they see when they look into this mirror onto an earlier time. Interactive elements suggest reflection about how one sees race – in oneself and in others.

The exhibit includes daguerreotypes, tintypes, ambrotypes and other forms of early photography as well as prints from tintypes made by an Air National Guardsman deployed to Afghanistan. Ed Drew’s modern-day tintypes are believed to be the first battle zone photographs using this method since the American Civil War.

10:00 AM - 11:15 AM Privacy in the Internet Age Roundtable Discussion - Congress to Campus

This event will be a discussion between Visiting Professor of Government Friedrich Lohr (Also retired German Ambassador to North Korea), Boston University Professor of the Practice of Intelligence, Joseph Wippl, and our two former members of Congress Sam Coppersmith and Ann Marie Buerkle. They will discuss espionage in the internet age as a national, transatlantic and worldwide problem of security versus privacy. A light breakfast will be served.

1:00 PM - 2:20 PM Moving Beyond Conflict: The Value of Shared Experience
An event in the Philosophy Colloquium Series. This discussion will feature Tim Phillips, a social entrepreneur who has launched several innovative organizations in the nonprofit and for-profit sectors that address critical and emerging global issues. Mr.Phillips co-founded the organization, Beyond Conflict, in 1992 as a pioneering conflict resolution and reconciliation initiative that has made important contributions to the consolidation of peace and democracy around the world.

WLCS, the Spanish Club and the Latin American and Caribbean Studies Program are pleased to present a dramatic reading of NOSOTRAS QUE LOS QUEREMOS TANTO/ WE WOMEN.

The dramatic reading of the play will be done by professional actors from the Boston area, directed by Dr. Colleen Rua (Suffolk Alum), and translated by Iani Moreno(WLCS department).  The playwright, Hugo Salcedo, will attend the reading and answer questions from the audience. Hugo Salcedo was a Distinguished Scholar in Residence here at Suffolk in March 2008.  

The dramatic reading is followed by a reception in Munce conference room, Archer 110 at 2:30-4pm. 
1:00 PM - 2:30 PM Theatre Cover Letters & Resumes Workshop
This workshop on Cover Letters & Resumes is part of the Theatre Department's Career Development Workshop Series. 

Abbie, Nora, and Steve will review resume and cover letter styles for all types of jobs and internships in the theatre world. This workshop is ideal for all students regardless of class standing! Students are encouraged to bring sample job and internship postings and copies of the resume. Follow-up practice interviews will be scheduled separately for those who are interested.

4:00 PM - 6:00 PM Connections 2014: Full-Time Job Fair
This is an opportunity for graduating seniors and graduate students to talk with 30+ top employers who are offering full-time permanent positions.

Please dress is professional business attire and bring copies of your resume. It is not required to attend the job fair for the full two hours.

5:30 PM - 8:00 PM Prison Book Program

Join us for an evening of service at the Prison Book Program in Quincy to help promote education and literacy for prisoners. Read letters from prisoners and sort and package books to be sent to them. Volunteers meet at the Center for Community Engagement, Donahue 209, at 5:30 and travel together to Quincy. This is a weekly opportunity limited to the first 6 volunteers who R.S.V.P. through SUconnect.

Graduate Admission staff will provide insight and information to help ease you into the grad school application process. While we hope you consider Suffolk as your destination, the information shared will be applicable to most graduate schools.
