9:00 AM - 7:00 PM "Chiang Yee: The Silent Traveller from the East"
The Adams Gallery at Suffolk University presents artwork from an exiled 20th century Chinese artist-author in the exhibit Chiang Yee: The Silent Traveller from the East. The exhibit is focused on illustrations from Chiang Yee’s 1959 travel book about Boston.

The exhibit features original Chiang Yee drawings and watercolors, reproductions of illustrations from his Silent Traveller book on Boston from the Boston Athenaeum’s collection, and photographs of the artist-author.

The exhibit was inspired by English Professor Da Zheng's book about Chiang Yee.

More about Chiang Yee and the exhibit.
12:00 PM - 2:00 PM The Future of Software Patents
The U.S. Supreme Court recently curtailed the patentability of software in Alice (probably a predictable holding given Benson and Flook). The Federal Circuit seems to be paying heed. See Ultramercial. What is left? Diehr for sure and this from Alice: "There is no dispute that… many computer-implemented claims are formally addressed to patent eligible subject matter." But, even if a patentee overcomes the §101 hurdle, he now faces new §112 hurdles as well.

Bring your own lunch and join us in an effort to predict the future of software patents and to brainstorm ways to address §101 and §112 issues.
