Preservanomics 101: The Economic Benefits of Historic Preservation
a panel discussion presented by the Boston Preservation Alliance

6 p.m. Thursday, March 20 

The event is free and open to the public.

The panel will address how the creative use of historic places has been and will continue to be a great economic resource to Boston. The adaptive use of historic buildings not only attracts visitors, residents, businesses and customers, but it also is an economic engine that revitalizes neighborhoods.

Vice President of Government and Community Affairs John Nucci will give welcoming remarks. Donovan Rypkema, principal of PlaceEconomics in Washington, D.C., and a leader in the economics of preserving historic structures, will deliver the keynote address.

The presenters include:

• Lawrence Curtis, president and managing partner of Winn Development, a major national developer with experience in historic redevelopment
• Rebecca A. Lee, partner in the Boston law office of Edwards Wildman Palmer and former chief of staff and special counsel to the director of the Boston Redevelopment Authority
• Jerold Kayden, professor of urban planning and design at the Harvard Graduate School of Design and counsel to the National Trust for Historic Preservation
• Greg Galer,executive director of the Boston Preservation Alliance, who will serve as moderator.
