9:00 AM - 7:00 PM "The Mirror of Race: Seeing Ourselves through History"

The Adams Gallery at Suffolk University presents The Mirror of Race: Seeing Ourselves through History, a photography exhibit that challenges viewers to think about what they see when they look into this mirror onto an earlier time. Interactive elements suggest reflection about how one sees race – in oneself and in others.

The exhibit includes daguerreotypes, tintypes, ambrotypes and other forms of early photography as well as prints from tintypes made by an Air National Guardsman deployed to Afghanistan. Ed Drew’s modern-day tintypes are believed to be the first battle zone photographs using this method since the American Civil War.

For Every Reason, Rhythm, and Rhyme
Written & directed by Marina Silva
The steam rises, the ceramic plates clink together, and the coffee beans are ground into a thick dust. Remy, the coffee shop manager, is stuck with her typical job with typical customers on this typical day until a new guy, Nate, begins to work there. Slowly, he changes the perceptions of Remy and the customers while learning to embrace the fast-paced, unstable world of a street cafe.

Hum’s Girls
Written & directed by Ingrid Oslund
In this adaptation of Vladimir Nabokov's classic novel Lolita, the charming, but sinister Humbert reflects on his past, his present and his future by encountering the three women who shaped his life. He relives the most pivotal events in his life, forcing himself to face the implications of his tragic "love story".

Hamlet Submerged
by Robert Rejek, directed by Andrew Pinto
A copy of Hamlet is dropped into a lake, and as the ink on the pages rises and bleeds, so do the characters from their original roles. Each one embarks on a journey of self-discovery and purpose in a world that is rapidly abandoning them.
