The Hidden Homeless Women of Boston
Start Date: 11/7/2013Start Time: 1:00 PM
End Date: 11/7/2013End Time: 2:00 PM

Event Description:
Professor Sered of Suffolk's Sociology Department will share her research regarding homeless women in downtown Boston. These women generally go unnoticed. Most do not sleep on the streets but are erratically housed, sometimes couch surfing in the homes of friends and relatives, sometimes staying with a male acquaintance in exchange for sex, sometimes renting a room or an apartment until the rent money runs out, sometimes staying at homeless shelters that are tucked away in corners of Boston that most of us never visit. In her lecture Professor Sered will tell the stories of some of these women, explaining how they became homeless and why they remain homeless.

Please register in advance on SUconnect. Pizza will be served.
