8:30 AM - 8:30 PM | Drawing=Thinking Conceived in tandem with Cannot Be Described in Words: Drawing/Daring, at The Art Complex Museum, Duxbury, MA, the ‘exhibit’ will activate the gallery by transforming it into an interactive maker space for drawing and thinking. The programming is conceived as a response to The Art Complex Museum exhibit whose participants (four of whom are New England School of Art and Design faculty) share a sense of daring: exploring new approaches, scale and mediums that expand the definition of drawing and add to what that definition can be.
Drawing = Thinking enhances the gallery as a site actuated by the correspondence of drawing to thinking and vice versa. Workshops and demos will give students and the general public and students the chance to experience the many ways that drawing and thinking overlap. The results from these will contribute to a growing exhibit in the space of the gallery from November through January.
All workshops will be during student activity period –on Tuesday or Thursday, from 1 – 2:30p.m.

Associate Professor of Interior Architecture & Design Mark Brus will give a talk on how important architects and interior designers have employed drawing as a mode of thinking and speculate upon the evolving role of drawing and the creative process in the post-digital age.

Christopher’s Haven operates a supportive community consisting of seven temporary apartments and a community recreation area for families of children being treated for cancer in nearby Boston hospitals. Students will be putting on a parents’ night out for families staying in the apartments. Activities will include planning activities and dinner for the children while the parents have an evening out. Volunteers meet in the Center for Community Engagement, Donahue 209 and travel together to the site. This opportunity is available to the first 6 participants who register through SUconnect. | |
