Event Description:
Wrapped in the Flag of Israel: Mizrahi Single Mothers and Bureaucratic Torture

In this book, Smadar Lavie posits a model of state bureaucracy used to inflict pain, and sort citizens into binaries: Jews versus Goyim, rich versus poor, Men versus Women, White versus Black. Lavie explores the relationship between social protest movements in the State of Israel, violence in Gaza, and the possibility of a third intifada.

Co-sponsored by the Departments of Communication and Journalism, Government, History, and Sociology.
