The Problem of Belief; Day 1

Event Description:

On Monday, Nov. 17 and Tuesday, Nov. 18, Suffolk will be hosting Distinguished Scholar-in-Residence, James Carroll, for two events open to all Suffolk and to the general public at the Walsh. The two-day event will be entitled “The Problem of Belief."

Jim will be publishing his newest book, Christ Actually: The Son of God for the Secular Age (click the linked title for a précis), and he would like to make one of his first public discussions of the book and related issues right here at Suffolk. Following is a link to a published version of a talk Jim gave at Harvard which addresses some of the book’s themes, “Who is Jesus Today? Bonhoeffer, Tillich, and the Future of Jesus Christ”:

On Monday, Nov. 17, the specific topic will be “God after Science” and will be hosted by me as primary respondent, followed by Q&A.

On Tuesday, Nov. 18, the specific topic will be “Jesus after the Holocaust” and will be hosted by Nir Eisikovits as primary respondent, followed by Q&A.
