Event Description:

Please join us at the Suffolk University Poetry Center for a reading featuring Sophie Cabot Black, author most recently of The Exchange: Poem, and Greg Delanty, whose newest poetry collection is Loosestrife.

73 Tremont Street (entrance around corner on Tremont Place). Free and open to the public; wheelchair accessible.

Sophie Cabot Black grew up on a small farm in New England. She has three poetry collections, The Misunderstanding of Nature, which received the Poetry Society of America's First Book Award, The Descent, which received the 2005 Connecticut Book Award, and The Exchange, which NPR calls "the book for you". Her poetry has appeared in The Atlantic Monthly, The New Republic, The New Yorker, and The Paris Review.

Greg Delanty, author of numerous volumes of poems and translations, was born in Cork, Ireland, in 1958. He now lives for most of the year in America, where he teaches at St Michael's College, Vermont. Irish novelist Colum McCann has described Delanty as the poet laureate of the contemporary Irish-in-America: “Delanty has catalogued an entire generation and its relationship to exile. He is the laureate of those who have gone.”
