All Day Online Course Design Institute (Multi-Day Event)
Are you interested in designing an online, hybrid or technology-enhanced course?  If so, enroll in the 4-week Online CDI. The Online CDI is recommended for faculty who are preparing to teach a fully or partially online course, who are interested in learning about developing such a course, or who may already be teaching an online, hybrid or technology-enhanced course but would like to incorporate some additional research-based teaching and learning strategies. This interactive, online workshop has been designed to align with the Quality Matters rubric.  For more information, contact  ctse@suffolk.edu.
Register by Wednesday, October 3.
All Day Law School- Monday Class Schedule
This day will be a Monday class schedule for LAW courses. LAW Tuesday classes will not be held.
Start Day Midterm Feedback Sessions (Multi-Day Event)
Collecting mid-semester feedback from students can help you identify teaching strengths and
potential chances to make before the end of the semester. The CTSE can support you in this
process: We'll schedule a time to visit your classroom to collect feedback (strengths and
suggestions) from your students. After compiling students' responses into a confidential report,
we'll meet with you to discuss the feedback and make a plan for how to move forward. This
method of instructional consultation has been shown to improve student ratings of faculty (Finelli,
2008) and to increase student motivation (Clark, 1982).
11:00 AM - 3:00 PM The Mirror Revealed: Stories Told

We are made of our stories.

Through their work, the six artists in this Suffolk University Gallery exhibit answer such questions as:

  • Why do we need stories as a species?
  • How do these stories in the form of myths, fairytales, and folktales reflect on our current cultural conditions, as they have for centuries? Why do these archetypes continue to resonate?
  • How do similar narratives cross cultures?
  • How do we tell these stories to ourselves?
  • How are our real lives and stories mingled with our online presences and relationships?

Participating artists:

Catriona Baker
Andrea Dezso
Anne Eder
Dan Estabrook
Cig Harvey
Terrasa Ulm

12:15 PM - 1:30 PM Film Screening: 'One Vote'

One Vote is a small film about a big topic: American democracy.

Filmed in five locations on a single day, One Vote captures the compelling stories of diverse American voters on Election Day 2016. One Vote tells the story of diverse American voters — the owner of the last tavern polling place in the US, an Alaskan family that travels miles to vote; the Omaha investor who helps voters get to the polls, the physician who works with disenfranchised citizens in rural SC and former felon casing first vote in KY after right to vote restored.

Suffolk University will host a screening followed by Q and A with Chloe Woodhouse who worked on the film. Free and open to the public.
