The Poe Statue Project
Start Date: 10/29/2013Start Time: 7:00 PM
End Date: 10/29/2013End Time: 8:30 PM

Event Description:
Have you ever thought it might be fun to get a statue installed in a major American city? Can you imagine the legal, artistic, political, and fundraising challenges such a project would present? Are you tired of hearing Boston say “NEVERMORE” to the idea of celebrating the most influential writer ever born in the city?
If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, please join us for The Poe Statue Project: Public Art, Creativity, Politics, and the Law.

This panel discussion will feature:
Karin Goodfellow, Director, Boston Arts Commission, will speak on the role of government in public art projects.
Jim Grace, Executive Director, Arts & Business Council of Greater Boston/Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts, will speak on legal issues in public art.
Paul Lewis, Chair, Poe Foundation of Boston, and Boston College Professor of English, will speak on Poe & Boston.
Stefanie Rocknak, sculptor and Hartwick College associate professor of Philosophy, will speak on the design of her statue and the public art process
