Sukkot
Start Date: 10/9/2014 All Day
End Date: 10/15/2014

Event Description:

Jewish holyday: Sukkot (the Festival of the Huts) takes place 5 days after Yom Kippur (the Day of Atonement) and commemorates the 40 year period that the Jewish people wandered in the desert after their enslavement in Egypt, during which Moses was given the Torah on Mt. Sinai and they lived in temporary shelters. The Season of Our Rejoicing, as it is also known, is celebrated by building a sukkah (hut) that Jews make their “home,” where they eat, entertain, and sometimes even sleep for the 7 day festival, in thanksgiving for G-d’s protection and the harvest.[i]
