9:00 AM - 7:00 PM "The Mirror of Race: Seeing Ourselves through History"

The Adams Gallery at Suffolk University presents The Mirror of Race: Seeing Ourselves through History, a photography exhibit that challenges viewers to think about what they see when they look into this mirror onto an earlier time. Interactive elements suggest reflection about how one sees race – in oneself and in others.

The exhibit includes daguerreotypes, tintypes, ambrotypes and other forms of early photography as well as prints from tintypes made by an Air National Guardsman deployed to Afghanistan. Ed Drew’s modern-day tintypes are believed to be the first battle zone photographs using this method since the American Civil War.

Will observe MLK Day 1/21/14 with luncheon featuring Rev. Jamie Washington M.Div., Ph.D. at the Wyndham Boston at Beacon Hill.

Rev. Dr. Jamie Washington serves as the President and Founder of the Washington Consulting Group, a Multicultural Organizational Development Firm out of Baltimore, MD. Dr. Washington has served as an educator, administrator, and consultant in higher education for over 29 years Dr. Washington is the President and a Founder of the Social Justice Training Institute. Dr. Washington earned his B.S. degree from Slippery Rock State College, and a double Masters' of Science degrees from Indiana University/Bloomington. He holds a Ph.D. is in College Student Development, from the University of Maryland College Park. Dr. Washington also holds a Masters of Divinity from Howard University School of Divinity.

He is a writer, speaker, coach, consultant, teacher and trainer. He has spoken all over the US, as well as in Canada and South Africa. He serves as the Co Pastor of Unity Fellowship and is the proud grandfather of 5 and great uncle to 3.

Known as “The Engagement Specialist”, he sees himself as an instrument of change. He works everyday to help people find the best in themselves and others. He lives by the words of one of his favorite songs:

If I can help somebody as I Pass along, If I can cheer somebody with a word or song,
If I can show somebody that he’s or she has traveled wrong, Then my Living Shall Not BE in Vain
